We have a winner! Adam Cooke of Plano, Texas created a great logo for On Orbit which is launching next month. Both Keith and I felt that Adam’s design embodies what On Orbit is. We had over 140 logo submissions. And besides Adam’s there were some other ones that really caught our attention.

Microsoft Appears to Win Facbook Deal - Levels Advertising Playing FieldPosted by: Marc Boucher in AdvertisingThe Wall Street Journal is reporting (subscription required) that Microsoft has reached a $240 million deal with Facebook for a minority stake. It appears to have put a value of $15 billion on Facebook. The deal opens the way for Microsoft to start selling their ads to the approximately 50 million Facebook’s audience. This is a huge deal for Microsoft and in my opinion levels the advertising playing field somewhat. Google which is dominating the online advertising segment, so it will be interesting to see how this affects in the long term. A lot depends on how Facebook develops and whether it can retain it’s audience, something I’m not 100% convinced of yet which may explain why Microsoft ultimately won this bidding war. Did Google sense something that made them offer a lower bid?

I’m at the Spaceward Games for the NASA Sponsored Tether and Power Beaming ChallengesPosted by: Marc Boucher in Space ExplorationI’ve been at the Spaceward Games all week and am leaving tomorrow morning. All my video, pictures and posts are on the Space Elevator Reference. SpaceRef was a media sponsor and we had our webcams going for most of the week. I’ll be a amking some time lapse movies when I get a chance. It’s been fun but the weather has not been cooperating. The games are going an extra day and I won’t be around to cover it though as I really do have to head home.
